The road was not easy for a family new to the United States.

Every single day, seven days a week, the parents of a family new to the United States worked tirelessly delivering food through two different delivery services. Long hours turned into late nights. They drove through rain, snow, exhaustion, and discouragement, refusing to give up because they knew their children were depending on them. While others slept, they were still working, praying, and believing for stability.

At the shelter, we watched their determination firsthand. They never asked for handouts. One of the greatest obstacles was the cost of obtaining five-year work permits — a life-changing opportunity that would allow them to pursue permanent employment and long-term housing stability. There were moments when the goal seemed impossible. The financial burden was overwhelming, and the process was long. But perseverance, community support, and faith carried them through.

Today, that same family is no longer living in a shelter. They are now renting their own apartment, creating a safe and stable home for their two children. They successfully obtained their five-year work permits, opening doors to permanent jobs within the local community. What once felt temporary and uncertain has now become a foundation for long-term independence and success.
